Location: New Orleans, LA and Metairie, LA

FLEX Staffing & Recruiting is partnering with three well-established and highly respected defense law firms seeking Litigation Defense Paralegals. These positions are ideal for a career paralegal with at least three years of defense litigation experience who values professionalism, attention to detail, and long-term career growth.

Responsibilities Litigation Defense Paralegal New Orleans and Metairie:

  • Draft, edit, proofread, and finalize legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, affidavits, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Review, organize, summarize, and manage documents obtained through discovery.
  • Assist with document productions and preparation of responses to discovery requests.
  • Coordinate and assist with delinquent discovery matters, including Rule 10.1 motions and related filings.
  • Draft subpoenas for records, depositions, hearings, and trial witnesses.
  • Prepare affidavits for authentication of medical records and other evidentiary documents.
  • Obtain, review, organize, and summarize medical records and other case-related documentation.
  • Review and summarize deposition transcripts for attorney use in litigation and trial preparation.
  • Assist attorneys with all phases of trial preparation, including management of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Conduct legal and factual research as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, experts, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.
  • Assist attorneys with scheduling, calendaring, file management, organization, correspondence, and general case administration.
  • Accurately record and maintain billable time entries.
  • Review, edit, and manage attorney pre-bills and client billing matters.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation defense paralegal experience in a law firm environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Louisiana litigation procedures and court rules preferred.
  • Experience managing complex case files from inception through trial.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced practice.
  • Strong proofreading, writing, and document management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research platforms.

Technology Experience

Qualified candidates should identify their experience with:

  • Document Management Systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments, Worldox, ProLaw)
  • Timekeeping and Billing Software (e.g., iTimekeep, Sierra, Aderant, Elite, Juris, SurePoint)
  • Case Management Systems
  • Electronic Filing Systems (State and Federal Courts)
