FLEX Staffing & Recruiting is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney New Orleans on behalf of a respected litigation firm. This opportunity is tailored for attorneys with 3–6+ years of litigation defense experience who are eager to gain meaningful trial exposure and develop into accomplished courtroom advocates.
What makes this role unique is the direct mentorship from a trial partner who actively takes cases to verdict. While fewer than 5% of cases ever go to trial, this firm regularly prepares its associates as though every matter could be presented in court. This philosophy ensures you will gain experience that most defense attorneys do not encounter until much later in their careers.
The practice is a small to medium-sized, close-knit firm where the attorneys have grown together professionally over the years. This collegial environment fosters mentorship, teamwork, and a shared commitment to excellence in litigation. As an associate, you won’t be lost in the shuffle; instead, you’ll play an integral role in cases, working directly with partners and clients from the outset.
Work closely with a trial partner who regularly appears in court.
Manage a caseload of insurance defense litigation matters from initial pleadings through resolution.
Draft and respond to discovery requests, manage document productions, and handle discovery disputes.
Prepare and learn to take and defend depositions, including those of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
Prepare witnesses for trial testimony, ensuring they are confident and persuasive on the stand.
Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions, evidentiary challenges, and trial-related motions.
Assist with every aspect of trial preparation, including:
Developing outlines for direct and cross-examination.
Drafting proposed jury instructions and voir dire questions.
Preparing opening and closing statements.
Creating demonstrative exhibits and persuasive trial materials.
Gain meaningful hands-on courtroom experience and trial strategy exposure that will accelerate your professional growth.
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in Louisiana (or eligible for admission). See Louisiana State Bar criteria for eligibility.
3–6+ years of insurance defense or general litigation defense experience.
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Experience handling discovery, motion practice, and case management.
Interest in trial work and a desire to learn courtroom advocacy skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented, close-knit environment.
Insurance Defense Attorney New Orleans garners a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Health insurance coverage provided.
Additional benefits will be discussed with qualified candidates.
This firm provides more than just a job — it offers a pathway to becoming a well-rounded trial lawyer. Many associates at larger firms find themselves limited to research or document review with little courtroom exposure. By contrast, this firm gives you the opportunity to be hands-on in every stage of litigation.
You will benefit from:
Mentorship: Direct training from partners who are invested in your development.
Trial Experience: Exposure to cases that actually reach the courtroom, preparing you for a career as a confident trial attorney.
Collaboration: A collegial team of attorneys who value supporting each other both professionally and personally.
Recognition: In a firm of this size, your contributions matter and will be acknowledged.
For ambitious defense attorneys who want to sharpen their litigation skills, this role provides substantive work, real trial exposure, and a supportive culture where your growth will be prioritized.
If you are an Insurance Defense Attorney New Orleans seeking to elevate your litigation career and gain rare trial experience, we want to hear from you.
